What is the Audi Advanced Key?
Audi prioritizes comfort and convenience. This is why all the new models we display come with keyless entry and start. This technology allows you to start your car and begin driving, all while keeping your key fob in your pocket or purse.
The system is controlled by proximity sensors that are located in the trunks, doors and key fobs. Here are a few things you need to know regarding Audi Advanced Key.
1. Proximity Detection
Audi proximity detection lets you to begin and enter your car without having to remove the key from your pocket or purse. This access and authorization system works by enabling a data exchange between the convenience key and your car which allows you to open the doors and trunk and even start the engine with just one touch of a sensor button on your key.
A proximity sensor based on sound is also known as a capacitive proximity sensor, uses acoustic waves to detect the presence of objects in close proximity. The sensors produce a signal using an oscillator. This signal is then transmitted into the air by an audio microphone, which transforms it into an audio file. The audio files are compared to determine the degree of similarity and how close they are. If they are close enough the system will send a wake-up signal to key and will send an ID signal that matches with the vehicle.
Proximity detection is only the first step to a more comfortable driving experience. The Audi advanced key also comes with a remote start capability which lets you start your car's engine from outside of the range of your key's FOB. This can be useful when you're carrying groceries into the trunk, placing children in their seats, or packing for a family trip.
Audi pre sense basic is a security feature that helps you avoid accidents by taking action before a collision occurs. It uses data from several other systems like the front camera as well as radar sensors and Audi side assist to determine the likelihood of collisions and warn drivers. It can also trigger the automatic braking system at speeds of up to 250 km/h (155,3) and notify the driver via the head-up or virtual cockpit display.

2. Authentication
The Audi advanced key system connects directly to the car sensors when you press the lock button on your key fob. It sends a confirmation number to the computer of the car that confirms it's a valid key fob. This safeguards against unauthorised entry into the vehicle without the correct key fob.
The key fob can be used to also start the vehicle from a pocket or purse. The Audi advanced key system utilizes proximity sensors in the doors and the lid of the trunk, paired with the radio pulse generator on the key fob. If the key fob is within five feet of the vehicle, the sensors will detect your presence and open the doors. When you open the trunk, or use the door handle the vehicle detects the key and begins the motor.
You can also use your key fob to activate the start-up feature of your vehicle's push button. If the key fob is in of your purse or pocket you can press the Start/Stop button in the center console to engage the engine. The car's sensors check the key fob's authenticity, and when it's confirmed, the engine will start.
The Audi advanced key system has a keyless entry feature that lets you unlock your car's doors with a touch of the handle on the exterior of the door. It's a fantastic feature to use when you've got hands full or wearing gloves. For example, when you're carrying groceries or children in the car. The system includes a trunk-release button that lets you open the trunk using a kick motion. This is a fantastic option for those who have to carry a lot of groceries or children into the vehicle.

3. Keyless Entry
Keyless entry systems are an amazing convenience, especially when you're carrying kids, groceries or gear. You can unlock your vehicle by simply touching a button or sensor mounted on the handle of the door (some models also have this technology in the lock). The key fob can also activate the sensors inside the vehicle when you are carrying it. This signals that you are nearby and that your finger is pressing a button. This will prevent any unauthorized use of the vehicle, by ensuring only you can unlock its doors.
A keyless entry system will typically include the capability to remotely start your car without the use of a physical key. Sensors that are mounted in the trunk or tailgate, and sometimes inside the doors of the vehicle are used to accomplish this. The sensors will start the engine of the vehicle and open the doors when the fob is within a specific range of the car - usually around 5 feet. After that, you can push the button to start your car. This is a great way to warm your car prior to when you leave in the morning to go to work or when it's cold outside.
Some of the more advanced variations of keyless entry don't require any key fobs at all. These vehicles can be opened and locked using a smartphone application. This is an excellent option for families or business owners who want their employees to have access to their company cars. Some keyless entry systems will even remember the driver’s preferred seat position and cabin temperature. This can help you save time when you get to a parking spot.
Some of the more advanced versions of keyless entry systems come with the ability to activate the rear hatch with a touch which will automatically shut and secure your cargo area by simply tapping your foot. This technology is offered in a wide range of Audi models and could be a standard feature, or an upgrade, based on the model. Be aware that these systems aren't foolproof and can be circumvented by skilled thieves with technical knowledge or tools.
4. Push-Button Start
Audi, unlike many other vehicle brands that offer remote starting in the factory, does not offer it. However, the company offers a different option with the same features as remote start. It's called the Audi Advanced Key.
Although it isn't a complete remote start system, this is a great option for those who require an easy method to start their car without the requirement of key insertion. With this feature, you are able to unlock the doors of your Audi A4 or start the engine by pressing the button. The button is located in the same location as the ignition switch on an ordinary car.
You'll need your key fob and to be within 5 feet of the vehicle in order to activate this feature. Sensors in the door handles or in the trunk will be activated once you and your keyfob are within five feet of the car. Once you have the correct code and a clear signal, the car will allow you to lock or start the car.
You can start driving your Audi A4 with the touch of a button and not have to search through your purse or pockets for your keys. This feature is perfect for those who spend much time in parking lots and is beneficial if you need to quickly warm up your vehicle for a commute or run errands.
When you get in your car it continues to communicate with your key fob. This is done via encrypted signals, which help to ensure that the system cannot be hacked. You can also use the Keyless Go Card as a backup. It's a credit card sized card that can be used to open your vehicle in case your key fob fails or gets lost.
If you have an Audi Advanced Key installed and are having problems starting your vehicle it could be due to an issue with the key. This is something that your local Audi dealer can assist with. The user manual has a procedure that can be used to re-pair your keys and your vehicle.
